Is Cyber Monday Passé?

Cyber MondayUnless you live under a rock, you know about Cyber Monday. It’s about being cyber, on a Monday. About catching deals online by shopping on Monday. But not just any Monday. The Monday after Thanksgiving, that is followed by Small Business Saturday, that follows Black Friday. It’s one of the few nationally recognized days not yet with it’s own greeting card (another marketing genius..but let’s get back on topic).

You are to shop. And shop…until you drop. Shop only online. Shop at your computer in the comforts of your own home or local coffee shop. Shop deals for gifting and deals to give yourself. Deals that you will boast about until New Years and Valentine’s and President’s Day, or any later date at which a new set of deals will be the topic of rage.

Here at DealerFire, we wonder if Cyber Monday is passé. A term that was coined in the 1960′s, cyberspace has grown up in it’s day. The Internet is available on a global scale and computing is done from the palm of your hand (or the small of your wrist!). Hence, Mobile Monday found it’s way into 2009. Nowadays, you must have a website and it must be responsive.

With 80% of today’s car buyers researching online before visiting a dealership, good website design and content is important. Out of those, 63% are still shopping online while at your store using their mobile device and 53% of those consumers are motivated to visit other lots based on information discovered on their smartphones in real time.
